Sorry I forgot to tell you:

At last, I’ll share you some extra tips and techniques to get backlinks that you’ll surely love it.

So, Let’s Dig in:

Why is Link Building necessary for a website?

Link BuildingLink building landscape is always changing, but still, a search engine like google keeps link as an important ranking factor because it creates power and trust.

In fact:

Without good ranking in a search engine, it is impossible to get a good traffic to your site. And less traffic equals to fewer sales and income. So I hope you understand why links are necessary.

….But REMEMBER!!

Since Google updated its algorithm {Google Penguin} in April 2012, over 3.1% of the site got hit out by a search engine. Google Penguin is an algorithm that targets and penalizes a site with black hat backlinks (bad links).

Now you may be worried about how you can get good-quality links??

Hold on…That’s what I am going to cover in this guide.

So, keep reading…

Before we move further, let’s take a quick look at the content that we are going to complete with:

Understanding Do-follow and No-follow

Do-follow and No-followWhen it comes to link building for search engine optimization, do-follow and no-follow type of links are always confused words by many of us.

So the real story is:

Do-follow links are HTML link attribute which tells the search engine bots to follow the link. This means it passes link juice and gives us a backlink. Do follow backlinks helps a site for ranking purposes.

Here is how Do follow links look like:

<a href=”http://www.facebook.com/”>Facebook</a>

No-follow links are HTML attribute links that tell search engine bots not to follow the link. This means it will not pass link juice. So, only people can follow the link.

As a result, if you drop your link on any site that provides no follows link, it can boost traffic to your site but it is not helpful for ranking factor.

Here is how No follow links look like:

<a href=”http://www.google.com/” rel=”nofollow”>Google</a>

How will you know whether the links are “do follow” or “no follow”?

Step 1: Find link anywhere on the webpage (It can be either anchor text, URL-type link or any type).

Step 2: Move the pointer to the particular hyperlink and press right-click on your mouse.

Step 3: Click on “inspect”. Now, you will see a blue colored (as given in the picture) text containing a hyperlink.

Step 4: As a result, Look at the hyperlink. If the hyperlink contains “do-follow tag”, then it is do follow link and if the hyperlink contains “no-follow” tags, then it is no follow.

Understanding Good Links and bad Links

Link BuildingIs “Do-follow” a good link and “No-follow” a bad link? …What do you think?

If you agree with the above question, you are completely wrong.

….Why? Because…

To understand which links are good and bad, it’s totally depending on the quality of the link and not the type of link. Meaning that even do-follow can be a bad link and most of the no-follow is useful for balancing your website links. Therefore, all links are not bad!!

….Here’s what you need to understand:

As per google “link scheme”:

“Any links intended to manipulate PageRank or a site’s ranking in Google search results may be considered part of a link scheme and a violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. This includes any behaviour that manipulates links to your site or outgoing links from your site”.

In addition, I made this list for you, to help you clearly understand about a good and bad link.

Check it out:

Bad links

  1. unnatural link,
  2. spammy link,
  3. Excessive link exchanges (“Link to me and I’ll link to you”)’
  4. a link that is automated using software,
  5. Link from Anchor text overused.
  6. Perhaps, broken links also consider as a bad link.

Good links

  1. Natural links that come without solicited
  2. Links from a Trustworthy site, not from a spam site.
  3. Anchor text that is linked to your keyword.
  4. Links that come out from a website related to your topic.

Understanding High-quality links that are actually worth building

Link buildingOkay.

I have already told you few points of good links. And here is some extra knowledge you will get.

…Let’s start.

Before you start link building journey, it is always important to keep your eye on good quality links.

WHY?? … Because it helps you boost ranking and enrich your authority.

Here’s how you find good quality links (backlinks):

Relevancy Of Site and Pages

RelevancyWhat I do is…

Whenever I approach some site for links, my first target is finding page relevancy.

Google loves the relevant page and relevant site.

If the link coming from the non-relevant site, Google hates it and it is not counted.

But… Google also look to context as well.

So if your links are pointed or dropped in the right context, even if it comes from the non-relevant site or non-relevant page, Google can count it.

….Dean Brian and Neil Patel clearly said on their combine guide check here.

Authority of the site

Believe or not…

Every day I used Link building campaign for my website, I always look into the site authority and page authority as well because when it comes to ranking your site, authority always matters a lot.

And also it is very important to know that:

One Quality-link coming from high authority website is equal to hundreds or thousand backlinks from the low authority site.

So, It doesn’t matter whether the links are do-follow or no-follow, but Good-Quality links always win the game.

Identifying the authority of the site and page

To find out the authority of the site and page, you can find it in two ways:

  1. By Direct method (Only 3 search per day for free version)
  2. by Extension

By the direct method:

In this method, for a free version, you’ll get only 3 searches per day. So use it wisely.

Anyway, let’s start.

First of all, go to https://moz.com and click on “MozPro” and then another click on “Open site explorer”.

You will find a search bar over it.

Now, Enter the URL whose authority you want to check for and click on search button. Let’s say I want to search for URL https://quicktraff.com.

So here is the result. It has DA- 00 and PA-00.

And the good news is that you’ll see the domain spam score as well. I will elaborate on the next topic.

By Extension

Step 1: Go to Chrome extension

Step 2: Now TYPE “MozBar” in the search box. After doing this, the mozbar extension will appear in the right corner of the window.

Step 3: Click on the “Mozbar extension”. Now if you don’t have Moz account, just sign up or create an account.

Step 4: After successfully created. Click on the extension and “enable it”.

So it ready to go.

Step 5: Now, search anything on google. You will find a bar below the site-listed.

So in the bar, you’ll find written DA which means DOMAIN AUTHORITY and you’ll also find PA which means PAGE AUTHORITY. Each score number is between 0 to 100.

….So that’s it.

Now, you can find yourself the domain and page authority whenever you do link building.

But one thing I forget to tell you:

I personally recommend you to select the site whose domain authority is above 30. For page, I especially don’t care much about it. But good score always gives a better result.

Say no to Spam

no spamLet’s think…

If google hate spammy links. Why will not google dislike links coming from spammy site

What do you think…?

According to me, it doesn’t matter if the links coming from a site whose spam score is below 3. But I avoid a site whose score is above 3.

How you will find spam score:

Follow the above method “identifying the authority by the direct method”.

When you search for DA and PA, you will also find spam score out of 17.

So that how you analyze the spam score of a particular site.

Do follow or no follow

Do-follow and No-followAs I have already explained to you what is do-follow and no-follow link in the above.

Let’s make a deal.

What Link would you love to get or build when it comes to ranking factor?

…..I am damn sure you’ll say “Do-follow Links”.

Absolutely you’re right, but at the same time, you’ll have to keep no-follow links to your site.

Because… It helps to balance your site links and make it look natural.

Link Co-Citations

Link Co-citation is nothing but it’s the words around your anchor text.

Google means it for finding out the context of your post.

So why not you use co-citation technique?

Contextual Backlinks

Contextual backlinks are links that contain the content of the post or a blog.

Why you need contextual backlinks?

Point 1: It drives traffic to your site if the links are on high traffic website, doesn’t matter whether it’s do follow or no follow.

Point 2: When you get do follow contextual backlinks, obviously it boost the site authority and ranking.

Always approach and target contextual backlinks.

Since I will elaborate “how to get contextual backlinks” below, I’ll not explain it here anymore. Sorry hehe!!

side-wide link distribution

site-wide distributionEspecially beginner and other webmasters, they always make mistake when building links.

And I don’t want you to make the same mistake anymore.

….Here’s the mistake!

When running a link campaign webmasters or newbie bloggers always make a link to their homepage.

I don’t completely restrict you to put your homepage link, but in my experience, I always do 70% post links and 30% homepage links.

And you know what:

It helps my blog boost its ranking and views.

Apply natural anchor text variation

Anchor text overused is one of the most web spam that Google penguin penalize.

When you’re linking to your site with anchor text, you can use these following anchor text, either you can use

  • Brand name (for example QUICKTRAFF),
  • Generic anchor text (More, here, website and many more),
  • URL (Just your URL), or
  • Titles (If your blog is about Motivational, then you can include a link like this “Best Motivational Quotes for success”).

How to avoid Google penalty while Performing anchor text link building?

Google penaltyIn my experience, I just want to recommend you not to overuse any type of anchor text on a single site and avoid linking the same post or blog many times in a single webpage.

So to avoid penalty.

It’s not just about the anchor text, source and context also matter a lot.

….So, BE SMART & BE NATURAL.

I want to share you some of the generic keywords that I use: Download here!

Link Building Sources

LINK….LINK….LINKs!  Here come the main parts of the whole topic.

Getting links from another site! Think it’s difficult?

Don’t worry! That’s why you are here.

There is a saying “If you can’t win a battle, at least you can win a war”.

So most importantly, this part will teach you how you can get good-quality links using different link building techniques that actually work.

So, keep scrolling these hanging grapes.

Broken Link Building

Link BuildingBroken Link building one of the most effective way to get good-quality links from an authority site.

Now, what is broken link building?

Broken Link building is a link that is no longer exist or live. In other words, it is just the links that show 404-page error.

…So how you’ll find broken links?

Follow these easy and simple steps:

Before I go further steps you need to add an extension to your Google Chrome or Firefox browser. You can either use “CHECK MY LINKS” extension or “DOMAIN HUNTER PLUS” extension. Both work well.

So, to add those extensions follow this step below:

Step 1: Open your Chrome Extension

Step 2: Now, scroll below and click on “Get More Extensions”.

Step 3: In the search bar, type and search the following extension {check my links or domain hunter plus}. Here I will show you with “Domain Hunter Plus” Extension.

Step 4: After Searching, click on “ADD TO CHROME” on the right side and click on “ADD EXTENSION”.

Step 5: Now, you will see the extension added on your chrome. So, you are successfully done.

Finding Broken Links

This part is where you’ll find out site relevancy and the broken links source…

And here’s how you find it:

Step 1: Go to Google and search using the following string:

“your Keyword” + “resources”

“your keyword” + intitle: resources

site:.gov “your keyword” + “links”

site:.edu “your keyword” + “recommended sites”

“your keyword” + “related links”

Step 2: Enter to any page that has good authority and relevancy {as I said you above}

Step 3: Hit “Domain hunter plus” extension.

Step 4: When you’re done, “domain hunter plus” will show you a list of the dead links. So, List it on your excel sheet for your own convenience.

Step5: Now, go to the website that has broken links and find out the CONTACT info. If you don’t find their contact, use LINK BUZZMARKER TOOLS to get it.

Earning Link

You have to take this part in a smart way and with originality.

I’ll help you how to do that.

Using the email address you have collected, reach the site owner by writing an email. Remember that you must write in a way that it looks appropriate, original and informative.

So, here’s is my favorite Email outreaching technique:

I do is, at first I let them know about the broken links that they have.

SUBJECT: BROKEN LINKS AT (THEIR SITE)

Hey there,

I just noticed a few broken links at (their site).

I’m not sure if this is the right person to ask, but I

thought it was worth a shot.

Thanks,

With regards,

(Name)

Secondly, I mail them saying that I have a better resource for the potential replacement.

SUBJECT: BROKEN LINKS AT (THEIR SITE)

Hi again,

No problem. Here are the broken links that I found:

(broken link #1)

(broken link #2)

It’d be great if you would consider replacing one

of the links to a link to this page on my site: your resource URL

I’ve got great feedback on it and I think it would be

a perfect replacement for those broken links.

Thanks!

With regards,

(Your name)

{Note: Your resource must be similar to the broken links so that it’s worth linking. For example, if the broken links is an articles talks about “dog food”, your articles must also have an article about a “dog food”}

I know that…

It’s is discouraging when you get less number of links after reaching many sites.

….But even if you get 5 links after reaching to 500 sites, it’s still great.

Comment Backlinks

Comment BacklinksEver heard about comment backlinks? If not! Don’t worry I’ll explain.

Comment backlink is just the links that you are getting by commenting on some site.

But you may have heard some webmaster saying that comment backlinks don’t work anymore for ranking.

But here is a brutal truth.

Comment backlinks still work for ranking in google search engine. But it all depends on how you’re playing with it.

So according to my experience, getting do-follow comment links helps your keywords ranks on google. But if you build low quality and messy links google will count it as spam links. As a result, Google can demote you.

Getting links by commenting:

STEP 1: Find a website for commenting using the given string:

“Leave a new comment”

“Comment on the Post”

“Enter your comment:”

“Comments on this entry:”

“Sign in to comment on this entry.”

“Comments (You may use HTML tags for style)”

“Login or register to post comments”

“Login or register to post or rate comments”

“You must be registered and logged in to leave comments.”

“Sign in to Comment On this Entry”

”if you have a website, link to it here” “post a new comment”

“By submitting a comment here you grant this site a perpetual license to”

“add comment” keyword / “add * comment”

“post comment” keyword / “post * comment”

keyword “leave a comment” / “leave* comment”

keyword “no comments”

Keywords “top commenter”

Keywords “Notify me of follow-up comments”

Step 2:  Enter any page and start commenting. Make sure you use your website in the comment section.

{Note:   1. Make sure you comment in such a way that it looks natural.

  1. Don’t comment too much on one post.
  2. Comment maximum of 10 times in a day, otherwise it may cause spam.}

Bonus Tips: If you’re damn lazy to search using the string you can use these good tools.

  1. Putmylinks- It searches for .edu, .gov, comment luv, do-follow comment searches and many more.
  2. Dropmylinks – same as the above.

.edu and .gov backlink

.gov and .eduI hope that you are familiar with .edu and .gov backlinks.

Okay, let us start how to get .edu and .gov backlinks that works.

Surely you may be asking me how to get it?

…well, you can get it in many ways. But here is my all-time favorite ways to get this type of link.

  1. Comment Backlinks

I have already explained to you how to get comment links.

The process is same as the previous technique.

…But.

The only change is that you need to find the URL that has .edu and .gov domain.

So, here is how you find the URL.

Step 1: Make a google search using the string:

site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment”

site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment”

site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment” –“comments closed” -”you must be logged in” “keyword”

site:.edu “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”

site:.gov “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”

inurl:(edu|gov) “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”

site:.edu inurl:blog “comment” -”you must be logged in” -”posting closed” -”comment closed”

site:.edu  says” “leave a reply”

In case, you feel lazy with the above string, you can use “Putmylinks” or “Dropmylinks” tools to find a relevant site for comment.

As a result, you can observe the authority of the site, its spam score and start commenting.

{NOTE: You can either replace the string .edu with .gov or .gov with .edu}

  1. Broken link building technique

Follow the above-broken links building techniques.

I have given two string to find broken links but here is the extra string that you can use.

site:.gov “your keyword” + “links”

site:.edu “your keyword” + “recommended sites”

{Note: You can also use “putmylinks” or “dropmylinks” tools}

Skycrapper technique

I don’t know from whom you’ve heard the term “skyscraper technique”, but I first heard this term from “Dean Brian”, founder of Backlinko.

Getting Broken link

Ohho, again broken link building!

…Because of its easy and simple to detect broken links, broken link building has become one of the best all-time favorites by every SEOs and webmaster.

In the previous guide on broken link building, I have told you some techniques to find broken links and relevant site using strings, extension, and other stuff.

But in this guide, I will share with you easy and simple techniques to find broken using ahrefs tools (best tool for link building).

Before further explanation let me clear you that…

Using tools it is easy to find a broken link to the site and it saves your huge amount of time.

Link BuildingSo here I begin…

Let’s say… You want to get a link from “copyblogger.com”.

Open your ahrefs account and type the URL copyblogger.com in the site explorer bar.

Now, click on the word “broken links” on the left side of the page [follow the image].

And select do-follow links. (You click on do follow because it passes link juice that helps you tom rank).

…So, there you’ll see the do-follow broken link listed.

Now select any URL that you wish for and search for that URL and see whether is exist or not.

After searching it, look the URL carefully and see what type of content the link exists before.

Or else you can go to “Waybackmachine tool”, and check the content of the Links that existed in last two or three weeks or a month.

Now…

It’s time to write the content related to the previous content of the link. Remember to write the content even better than previously written and optimize the content appropriately.

If you’re done.

Contact by emailing the site owner or staff and let them know about the broken links. Also, say that you have much better content related to the previous content of the broken link.

{You can take a mailing technique from the above-broken link building guide}

Finally, repeat this process for getting links from other sites also. I am sure that 80% of the webmaster will accept your approach. So it is worth trying.

In Conclusion,  if you find this guide useful, then don’t forget to share it.

And if you have any queries regarding link building, then you may drop a comment below. I’ll try to reply each comment because, If someone like Neil Patel can reply then why not I. 🙂
